Matthew has a deep understanding of the ICF credentialing process and will help you make improvements to your coaching while explaining helpful context. For example, he helped me understand what an assessor would be thinking when reviewing a coaching session for the ACC level, and it really helped me cement my learning into place. It’s helpful for me to make improvements when I understand the “why.” After working with Matthew, I take my time in coaching sessions and feel less rushed. I also no longer feel like I have to “connect the dots” for the client. I ask simple questions to get them to do it themselves. Finally, Matthew always made it a point to celebrate my progress and it felt really encouraging as a new coach.

It is vitally important to feel like you are in the best space for learning and growth. My style isn't for everyone, so let's find a time to test our chemistry. Bring your questions and I will bring answers!

What learners say

Listens “between the lines,”

Matthew took the time to understand my learning style and how to serve my goals. Every session, he showed me how to find what I needed. Matthew listens “between the lines,” discerning what you are really saying and guiding you toward the best solution for your individual coaching style. He is smart and has a tremendous amount of wisdom.

Sense of humor and comfort with silence

Matthew's mentor coaching strengths are his directness (waste no time!), his sense of humor, his comfort with silence and space, and his patience and support when you screw up. He's a nice person and wants his Learners to succeed. Matthew is very curious and dedicated to bettering his skills while helping his learners do the same.

I have really enjoyed working with Matthew

Matthew is genuine, honest, and direct. His strengths include his knowledge of the PCC Markers and the ability to weed through coaching jargon to share helpful insights. Matthew brought humor and perspective to otherwise not-humorous situations, such as not passing my original performance evaluation exam. He shared his thoughts in a professional and impactful way, but also peppered in funny anecdotes & perceptions to keep situations light.

I have really enjoyed working with Matthew

“Matthew has a very easy and likable mentor-coaching style, while at the same time, helping me by directly conveying information I needed to hear. In essence, Matthew met me where I was at and tailored his message to help me accomplish my goals. Mentor Coaching with Matthew was instrumental in my getting a professional coaching certification from my coach training program and helping me accomplish most of the work needed for completing my ICF credential application.

Awareness of coaching presence

Matthew’s mentor coaching is transformative and highly engaging. His detailed, actionable feedback after each session submission provided me with further insights into coaching and helped me refine my skills... His guidance allowed me to internalise the ICF framework in a way that felt accessible and meaningful.

I love the updated ICF Core Competencies and the updated PCC Markers.
"The updated Markers are not new competencies. The Markers are there to support the new competencies. They are the behavioral indicators that the competencies are being demonstrated."

To this end, the Competencies hold the meaning and the Markers express the behavior. This makes the marker fundamental to how you link your questions to the behaviors that demonstrate the competencies!
