Together we will explore the Neuroscience of metaphors, and have plenty of time to practice. You'll discover how metaphors weave through the ICF Core Competencies. We'll develop your awareness, curiosity, and capacity to leverage the metaphors that your clients naturally bring into conversations.

Session 1

  • Introductions
  • Group Learning Agreements
  • Course Overview.
  • Discussion of the Coaching demo, A Full Plate,
  • Session One Reading - Preface, and Chapter 1: Your Brain and Visual Language.
  • Explore CC 2 Coaching Mindset

Session 2

  • Session Update Due 24 hours before the session.
  • Discussion of the Coaching demo, Into the Fog
  • Session Two Reading - Ch 2: Conceptual Metaphors and Ch 3: Owned Metaphors.
  • Explore CC 3 Establishes and Maintains Agreements — break-out coaching.

Session 3

  • Session Update Due 24 hours before the session.
  • Discussion of the Coaching demo, Overflowing Plate.
  • Discussion of Session Three Reading - Ch 4: Client-Led Coaching Client-Centered, and Ch 5: Positive Emotional Attraction. 
  • Explores CC 4 Cultivates Trust and Safety — break-out coaching.

Session 4

  • Session Update Due 24 hours before the session.
  • Discussion of DEMO: Energizing Party.
  • READING: Chapter 6 Enhancing Understanding and Memory and Ch 7 Clean Language, and the
  • Article Tangled Spaghetti in my Head
  • Video: Clean Language Demonstration
  • Explores CC 5 Maintains Presence. Break-out coaching.

Session 5

  • Session Update Due 24 hours before the session.
  • Discussion of DEMO: Pub Vibe.
  • Complete and Upload Transcript with your notes and observations from your coaching demonstration.
  • Be ready to discuss what you learned from your recorded coaching (30 minutes) and transcribed fieldwork.
  • Discussion of READING: Ch 8: Embodied Experience, Ch 9: Somatic Awareness, and Ch 10: Coaching Competencies
  • Explore CC 6 Listens Actively.

Session 6

  • Session Update Due 24 hours before the session.
  • Discussion of coaching demo Grounded Goals and debrief with client.
  • Session 6 Reading – Ch 11: Metaphors and the Coaching Container and Ch 12: Embodied Grounded Goals (EGG).
  • Exploring the use of metaphors to develop powerful goals.
  • Look over and be ready to discuss the EGG Worksheet
  • Explores all the Coaching Competencies — break-out coaching.

Session 7

  • Session Update Due 24 hours before the session.
  • Discussion of coaching demo It’s a Spork!
  • Session Reading – Ch 13: Emotions are Like Road Signs and Ch 14: Culturally Competent Coaching
  • Read the article: Say it with Feeling
  • Explore CC 7 Evokes Awareness — break-out coaching.

Session 8

  • Session Update Due 24 hours before the session.
  • Discussion of coaching demo Goofy and Lighthearted
  • Session Reading – Ch 15: Playful Coaching and Ch 16: What is Required?
  • Exploring CC 8 Facilitates Client Growth explored.
  • Gathering insights and learning.
  • Final session celebration!

How does the course support learning?

Lyssa is sharing many demonstrations. You will have access to the book chapters from Light Up: The Science of Coaching with Metaphors. There will be lots of coaching practice both in the sessions and outside of class.

Payments, Invoices, and Refund Policy

What types of payment options do you offer?

VISA, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Stripe, and Apple Pay.
For some extensive programs, I offer payment plans. You will see this option upon sign up if it is available. If you do not see your course listed, then it is unavailable for a payment plan at this time.

How do I find my invoices?

At the top menu where is says 'me', select, select 'account'. If you have purchased it will show you the invoices, then select 'download invoice'.

Are refunds available?

Refunds are available for purchases over $50 within fourteen (14) days unless the digital material has been accessed. If you change your mind about the product and have not accessed the material. You are responsible for all bank fees accrued or charged + a $50.00 handling fee. There are no refunds if you have accessed the digital material, downloaded documents, or watched videos. We can discuss moving you to another program/course within the year in limited cases.

If I haven't accessed the material and it is within the fourteen (14) day time frame, how do I request a refund?
